United
Making the future brighter one step at a time
Here at Shine United, we strive to improve the quality of life for the under resourced, inspire hope and confidence in the less fortunate and bring the community together to fight against poverty.
Our Mission
How We Do it
With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to collect products such as toothbrushes, sanitary napkins and non-perishable food to donate to drives for those affected by homelessness in Downtown, San Diego. In order to do this, Shine United holds drives at local elementary schools and runs fundraisers through our Facebook page and GoFundMe.

Our Projects
Along with our community's help like the students and parents of Stone Ranch Elementary School, we at Shine United have been able to collect non-perishable food and water for drives for individuals experiencing homelessness held in downtown San Diego. In June, we made dozens of masks and donated them to local hospitals and donated care packages to the Alpha Project in San Diego. Currently, we are working towards collecting toys for the UCSD Moore’s Pediatric Care Center (Rady’s Oncology Department).
Corona Virus Response
In an effort to help the community we began a three pronged approach to help our first responders and the under resourced get through the pandemic. Our first approach is making masks and donating to our local clinics for our first responders. Our second approach is to raise money through platforms such as Go Fund Me and Snap for charities such as Direct Relief. Our third approach is to raise money through the sale of art. Many in our community have spent their quarantine making great art and we thought a great way to spread awareness for our student artists as well as to raise money for those in need is to sell one of a kind art through Redbubble and Mercari and donating the proceeds to charities like Direct Relief and Family Promise.

How You Can Help
Besides donating money to charities, a way to help those is by volunteering through programs like Miracle Messages, an organization that pairs volunteers with a person experiencing homelessness to offer support and basic companionship through short weekly phone calls or text messages.
